SAINT FRANCIS WAY
Monteluco is fully part of the stages of St. Francis Way, a timeless journey through the hermitages, sanctuaries, ancient forests and medieval towns that inspired the Saint of Assisi's love for nature and all its creatures. In fact, in 1218, St. Francis obtained the chapel of St. Catherine from the hermit monks of Monteluco, where the Franciscan sanctuary stands on today. It is located on the summit of the mountain, surrounded and almost hidden by a thick wood of ancient holm-oaks.
The Sanctuary, dedicated to St. Francis and St. Catherine, still has the tiny cells and the stone used by the saint as bed. In the "Holy Forest" is still possible to visit the caves where some saints stayed .
The Sanctuary is open all year (9 am-12 am / 3 pm-6 pm).
